Obituary for Mary Jean Mulloy Surfside Beach…Mary Jean Mulloy Mary Jean Mulloy, 78, died of natural causes at Embrace Hospice House on Sunday, October 7, 2018. Originally from Utica, New York, in 2002, she moved to Surfside Beach, South Carolina. She is survived by her sister, Margaret and three brothers: Thomas, Patrick and his wife Mary Ann, and Brian and his wife Beverly.

She is predeceased by her father Thomas, mother Jean, and sister, Nancy Mulloy. Mary graduated from St. Francis de Sales High School in Utica, New York, and earned a Registered Nursing Degree at St. Elizabeth’s Nursing School also in Utica. She received a Bachelors and Masters Degree in Nursing from Syracuse University.

Mary was a nurse at Boston’s Children’s Hospital, a nursing supervisor at Faxton’s Children’s Hospital in Utica, New York, and when her mother entered Sitron Nursing Home in Utica, Mary went to work at Sitron to be with her and to serve others. Mary leaves behind eight beloved nieces and nephews; eighteen great nieces and nephews, and one great-great niece. Since moving to South Carolina, Mary has been surrounded by many family members.

Coming from a large, loving, Irish Catholic Family, she had a full life. Mary was very funny, gave a welcoming huge warm hug, had a quick wit, and often kept the family laughing. Mary was also involved in the life of St. Michael Parish in Garden City, South Carolina; she leaves behind many friends from that church.
