Mary “Joan” Walton, 79, of Macclenny passed away Thursday, May 16, 2019 peacefully, after months of illness, at her home with her family by her side. Joan was born to the late Mr. William and Lily Pearl (Shiver) Fudge on November 13, 1939 in Pelham, Georgia. Joan loved God, family, and friends.

She last worked at St. Vincent’s Hospital for several years prior to her retirement. She was deeply involved with the Guardian Ad Litem Program, helping children in Baker County for many years. Mrs. Walton’s love of family was felt by all.

She was a caretaker and her love was demonstrated by her desire to do for her family and friends as much as possible. She constantly prayed for everyone. Her faith was strong and her love for God was felt by her whole family.

Her passing will leave her family with an emptiness inside them that will never be filled. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Mr. Chester Walton; her sons: David (Andrea) Walton of Ponte Vedra and Doug (Dawn) Walton of Boston, Virginia; daughters: Kim (Dave) Davidson of Orlando and Elizabeth Walton of Macclenny; sisters: Gail (Tom) Sakezles of Tampa, Ann Perez of Land O’ Lakes, and Linda (Larry) Rogers of Hot Springs, Arkansas; 14 grandchildren, 9 great- grandchildren; as well as numerous other family members and friends. A Funeral Service to honor Mrs. Joan’s life will be held Monday, May 20, 2019 at 1:00 pm at Raiford Road Church, Macclenny with Rev.

Eddie Griffis officiating. A private family burial will follow the services at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens, Jacksonville. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Forbes Funeral Home, Macclenny.
