Life Story for Mary L. Gann Settle (Welch) Mary L. Gann Settle September 21, 1926 – April 29, 2018 Mary Lois Settle, 91, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 29, 2018 in the comfort of her own home, with her daughters by her side. Memorial Service: 11 a.m., Saturday, May 19, 2018 at First United Methodist Church, 122 S. Union St., Whitesboro, Tx 76273. She was born September 21, 1926 to George A. and Minnie (Perry) Welch and grew up on the family farm in Collinsville, Texas.

She was the seventh of eight children. She worked at the Whitesboro City Hall after graduation in 1943 and married Bill Gann in May of 1946. He preceded her in death in 1992.

In May 1997 she married L. C. Settle who preceded her in death in 2007. Mary was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She worked many years as a bookkeeper and later as the church secretary in three different churches.

She was always involved in church activities, was an accomplished seamstress, enjoyed oil painting, bridge, traveling, and especially visiting with family and friends. Mary was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Whitesboro and also a member of P.E.O. and Daughters of Republic of Texas. In addition to her husbands, Mary was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, two sisters, and stepson, Bob Settle.

Survivors include two daughters: Mary Ellen McGlasson and husband Lee of Mansfield; Andrea “Jane” Pugh and husband Joe of Mansfield; stepdaughter Mickey Cody and husband Bill Burns; sister: Imogene Bullock of Denison; grandchildren: Ryan Pugh and wife Christina; Teri Keck and husband Jeff; Russ Pugh and wife Crystal; Christine Williams and husband Branden; great grandchildren: Tyler Pugh and wife Amy, Jacob Pugh, Abigail Keck, Alex Pugh, Garrett Williams, Sydney Keck, Daniel Keck, Marin Pugh, Payton Williams, Loxley Pugh, Matthew Keck; step grandchildren: Lisa Columbe, Michael Cody, Richard Gonzalez, Robert Gonzalez, and Kevin Stephens; and numerous step great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. We commend and appreciate Community Hospice of Texas on their excellent care and professionalism during our time of need. We also commend Peggy Fox, not only a caregiver, but a friend, for her devotion to Mary.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church in Whitesboro, Texas and/or Community Hospice of Texas.
