OBITUARY Mary Lena Holmberg October 31, 1931 – June 28, 2018 Mary Holmberg was a fighter, a believer, and a teacher. She was a sympathizer, a comedian, a mentor, and a true lady. The reason she touched so many lives and affected so many people was due to her dynamic sense of being.

If you had asked her what she genuinely cared about most in life, she would say, being a sister, mother, wife, grandmother, and friend. She was an adoring wife. She married her husband John in September of 1953.

They had been friends since childhood. During the winter months, John would have snowball fights with his friends, and Mary was right next to him making all the snowballs. In school she sit right in front of him and let him copy her spelling homework.

He would tie ribbons from her dress to her chair. Mary was a doting mother, whom loved all her children unconditionally. Each child felt safe, loved, and they never feared her judgement.

In the summer, she took all her kids to the beach and would sit for hours watching them play until the sun set. She was an extraordinary grandmother. To her, her grandchildren were a gift.

She always had pictures of all her grandkids around her house. During Birthday’s and Holidays, she was there making sure they all felt special and loved. Friends were so special to her.

She loved spending time with them, chatting, crafting, and playing cards. After she moved to Washington, she was always talking so fondly about the times she spent with them while her husband was fishing. There were so many things that she enjoyed in life.

She loved to sew and crochet. She was always in the kitchen baking and cooking something delicious. Mary loved to travel and see the world with John.

When the weather was calm, she would go to the beach and enjoy the day. Her dog, Fluffy was her best companion. It didn’t take much to make her happy- a phone call, a card, a visit, or a piece of chocolate.

She lived for the people she cared about.
