Mary Lou Wise Snyder, 70, an Asheville resident of 51 years passed away on January 8, 2018 at Mission Hospital. She was born on April 12, 1948 in Big Stone Gap, VA to Frank Jr. Wise who passed in 1996 and Virginia Ruth Neely Wise who passed in 2000. She was a Title 1 Teacher’s Aide at Clyde A. Erwin Middle School from 1976 to 1983.

Mary enjoyed reading, cooking, gardening and spending time with her family. Mary is survived by her husband of 50 years, Donald Ralph Snyder; daughters, Kelly Vess and Kris Holbert of Asheville, NC; son, John Snyder of Asheville, NC; siblings, Maggie Stamey of Bristol, TN, Charlie Wise of Bristol, TN, Judy Guffey (Eddie) of Bristol, TN, Sue Wright of Leicester, NC, and Fred Wise of Bristol, TN; grandchildren, Kaleb Vess (Reilly) of Weaverville, NC, Jordan Holbert of Asheville, NC, and Josie Holbert of Asheville, NC; great-grandson Hudson Vess of Weaverville, NC; and numerous nephews and nieces. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, January 10 at Lewis Memorial Park with Kaleb Vess and Jordan Holbert.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital at www. stjude.org/donate.
