Mary’s Obituary Mary “Mama Sue” Carroll, 99, of Dyersburg, TN, passed away on Thursday, May 9, 2019 at West Tennessee Healthcare Dyersburg Hospital. She was born on January 23, 1920, in Bogota, TN. She lived and worked in Bogota and Dyer County all of her life.

Mama Sue worked on a farm and in her later years retired as a machine operator from Sylvania. She was a member of West Dyersburg Church of Christ. Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday, May 13, 2019 in the chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home with Mr. Rick Burse, Mr. Glen Burse and Ms. Bobbie Walden officiating.

Burial will be in Dyer County Memorial Gardens. The family will receive visitors from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. Monday, May 13, 2019 at Dyersburg Funeral Home. Survivors include her daughter, Dolores Pleasant and husband, Pete, of Dyersburg, TN; two brothers, Harold Bennett of Ridgely, TN and Larry Bennett and wife, Mary, of Obion, TN; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; eighteen great-great-grandchildren; and her daughter-in-law, Zibbie Carroll.

Mama Sue also leaves some very dear friends and special loved ones who were so good to her, including Amy Carroll and Delores Burse. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 plus years, Douglas “Daddy Doug” Carroll; a son, Jerry L. Carroll; her parents, Carl and Ila Forsett Bennett; and four brothers, Thomas Bennett, Bobby Bennett, Joe Bennett and Billy Bennett. Pallbearers will be Tony Childress, Wally Childress, Drew Ross, Todd Hamilton, Doug Singleteary and David Jones.
