Obituary for Ms. Mary Newsome Mary Alice Newsome was born on February 9, 1924 to Charlie L. Futrell and Willie Mae Futrell. Although attending various churches throughout her life, Mary was currently attending Galilee Baptist Church at the time of her transition. Mary was the matriarch of the Newsome family and believed that “She Could Do All Things Through Christ Who Strengthened Her and Love was Her Greatest Gift”.
She honored God with her Life by loving others as He loved her. She LOVED reading her BIBLE and worshiping GOD. She helped everyone that she met that had a need.
She was a Prayer Warrior and God answered her when she prayed! She never made it to Hollywood but she loved singing and dancing for the Lord. Mary was unselfish and would give you the clothes off her back if you needed them.
She always remained strong in adversity and was known for staying at the feet of Jesus because she prayed about everything, She would often say “If the Lord Willing I will, because she Trusted God. She was peaceful, humble, honest, and kept her word. Mary respected the people on her journey here on Earth.
She was a dedicated Missionary. She served in various communities throughout her life. Mary was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother, daughter, great-great grandmother, worshiper, and in the past; a community activist, missionary, church choir member, teacher, prayer partner, praise and worship leader, usher, homeless advocate, neighborhood watch member, daycare teacher and she fulfilled her purpose that God created for her while here on earth.
Mary lived a full life and she transitioned empty of all that God placed in her to accomplish so she could hear “Well done Mary, My good and faithful servant”. She was preceded in death by her parents Charlie L. Futrell and Willie Mae Futrell, her husband Jeff Newsome, and her siblings. She leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Jeremiah Newsome, Mary Newsome- Coleman (Carl Coleman), Jessie Carey, Butch Carey, Mary Graves, Garland Futrell, Lenora Bullock (David), Barbara Jean Bailey and Clifton Andrews Sr. (Gayle); to carry on her “Legacy of Love” her grandchildren; Jeremiah Jr., Ericka, Antonio, Dewayne, Carl III, Nynetra, Jeff, Eliquel, Shameka, Jesse, Vinetra, Aaliyah, Jennifer, Tiarra, Kiya, Layla, Isabella, Clifton Jr., Taneysha, Katrina, Marty (Vickie), Tyrone, Marty Jr., Tamarco, James Jr, Tyronda, La’Tashia, Shawntay, April (Jason), Anthony (Brittney), Shawnda, Victor, Tramaine (Kierstien), Glentrell, Stanisha, and Shawnda Pigget (Temper).
