Obituary for Mary Patnaude (McGregor) Mary McGregor Patnaude, 68, of St. Albans, after a long period of declining health, passed away peacefully in her home on December 2, 2018, surrounded by her family. Born on December 16, 1949, in Burlington, Vermont, Mary was the youngest child of George R. J. and Edith (Rubyor) McGregor, Sr She grew up in Burlington, graduated from Mount Saint Mary’s Academy and attended Champlain College.

Mary lived in Burlington for the first thirty years of her life, then lived in Colchester for thirty one years, then lived in St. Albans since 2011. Growing up Mary’s summers were spent on Lake Champlain in Colchester (Thayer’s Beach) ’til she was 13. Many summer days she would go to her grandmother’s in South Hero.

She would spend time with her cousins who lived and also visited there. Mary had a very close relationship with her three Aunts who she loved very deeply. She would often talked about her visits with her extended family, and express her happiest memories of visiting all of them.

In 1971 she was married. Her greatest joy were her children, Donald E. Patnaude II and Amy L. Patnaude and her grandchildren, Kathleen E. Osborne (Colton), Isaac J. Patnaude and Olivia M. Owens. Family meant everything to Mary.

Mary loved to entertain, cook a nice meal and have people over. Anyone that knew Mary was always welcome, at any time; she always had a good cup of coffee for anyone who stopped in. Special occasions were always in the dining room to make people feel special.

She loved the simple things of life and found such beauty in the world that God had created. Mary is survived by her children, grandchildren, her brother, Peter J. McGregor of Colorado Springs, CO, her aunt, Edna Parrott of Hobe Sound, Florida and So. Hero, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She is also survived by her lifelong friend, Kathryn Oakes Mayo of Burlington, her special cousins, Leila Boyle-Yandon of Troy, NY and Polly Viens King of Hobe Sound, Florida She was predeceased by her parents, brothers George R. McGregor Jr., Thomas E. McGregor Sr., Robert R. McGregor Sr., James P. McGregor, her sister Dorothy McGregor Fausel and infant brothers, Michael, Frank and Joseph, infant sister Anne Bridgit and nephew Thomas E. McGregor Jr. and a dear friend Cassandra Francis. Calling hours will be Sunday, December 9th, from 3-5pm at LaVigne Funeral Home, 132 Main Street, Winooski. A Mass of Christian burial will be held Monday, December 10th at 10am at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Winooski, with burial to follow at Resurrection Park Catholic Cemetery, South Burlington.
