Mary “Jean” Standley, 98 1/2, of Lumberton, passed away on Sunday, July 1, 2018, at Wesley Pines, in the presence of her loving family. She was born on December 30, 1919, in Kannapolis, to the late William and Dora Redmon. She was also preceded in death by her husband, William P Standley; two children, one great grandchild, and sixteen siblings.

Jean was a longtime member of Haymount United Methodist Church. She was a kind, caring, loving, special woman, who will be missed greatly by her family and friends. Left to cherish Mary’s memory are her daughters, Mary (George) Sevits, Germain (Bill) Fritchman, Patty Lee; grandchildren, Cathy (Drew) Jolly, Tonya (Chad) Simpson, Justin (Moriah) Sevits, Gary (Grace) Sevits, Ashley (Ryan) Tibbens; great grandchildren, Bethany (Andrew) Kerr, Bryce Jolly, Miranda Strickland, Cassady Simpson, Bret Jolly, Tyler Sevits, Sawyer Sevits, Colton Sevits, Hamptyn Sevits, Will Tibbens, Stella Sevits; and many nieces and nephews.

The family will conduct a memorial service at Wesley Pines at a date to be determined. In lieu of flowers please consider making a donation to Wesley Pines Benevolent Fund or to Community Hospice. The family would like to thank the staff at Wesley Pines for their loving care of Miss Mary over the past 11 years.
