Born on April 30, 1922, in Carroll County, Tennessee, she was the eighth child out of ten born to Eldon Ernest and Ollie Mae Simons Woodard. Sue went to business college and after graduating school began her career as a secretary.

She met a dashing young man named Ed Kornegay, who swept her off her feet. After a short courtship, they married and Ed’s career brought them to Charlotte where they began to create their lives with their two sons. Sue began a career as a homemaker, she was a wonderful wife and mother.

Her family was the most important thing in her life. Sue was a faithful member of First Presbyterian Church of Charlotte for 65 years. Sue loved the Lord and served Him faithfully throughout her life.

She was an avid tennis player, bridge player and loved to walk. Sue loved God’s creations, the outdoors, and birds especially. Her greatest love was her family.

Sue spent many hours attending her grandchildren’s sports activities, plays and choral concerts. She was happiest when she was sitting on the porch at Lake Norman, surrounded by her family, cooking for everyone, being the ultimate southern hostess. Sue is survived by her dearly loved sons, Greg and Tim, her daughter-law Prudy and her adored grandchildren Mary, Matthew and Katherine, her brothers Harold, Gordon and sister-in-law June, and many nieces and nephews.
