Mary Victoria Guastella , July 01, 1922 — December 15, 2018

Mary V. Guastella, (nee-Wolodzko), 96, of Elyria passed away Saturday December 15, 2018 at home surrounded by the love of her family and went to her heavenly home to be with her Lord and Savior. She was born July 1, 1922 in Elyria and was a lifelong Elyria resident. Mary owned and operated her own hair salons for 60 years, retiring at age 80 and going into semi-retirement at her daughter’s Nancy’s salon of Giovanni’s until the age of 85 years young.

Mary had operated her hair salon at home,… Read More » then opened up the Graystone Beauty Shop in the Graystone Hotel in Elyria. Once the hotel closed, Mary opened up the Mademoiselle Salon in downtown Elyria until she retired. Mary loved her profession, as she always said “I love people”.

Her heart was a servant’s heart. Her clients were family to her and to her family. Mary was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, a former member of the former Holy Cross Catholic Church, member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the United Polish Club, where she was once named Mother of Year.

Mary held various offices of the Quota Club of Elyria. She also served as a 4-H advisor for several years of the Modern Misses from Elyria. A 1941 Elyria High School graduate, she loved serving on her reunion committees through the years!

After high School graduation, She attended and graduated from Del Mar Beauty Academy in Detroit Mi. . It was in Detroit that Mary met her “Phil Brick” Philip Guastella.

They celebrated 50 years of marriage. Survivors include her daughters, Nancy Guastella (partner, Mike Schmittle) and Sue Jordan wife of Paul Jordan; 5 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Philip in 1998 and brothers, Raymond, Casmir “Goose” and Tony Wolodzko.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 12:00 p.m. Wednesday December 19, 2018 at St. Mary Church 320 Middle Ave. , Elyria, where the family will receive friends in the Weigand Room of the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass. The Rev.

Fr. Charles Diedrick will be the Celebrant. Burial will be at St. Mary Cemetery, Elyria.

Mary’s servant’s heart was filled with thankfulness and gratitude…an amazing loving woman, who loved God, her family and friends. Her love was limitless.
