Obituary of Mary M. Ashcraft Carle Howland- Mary M. Ashcraft Carle, 55, passed away peacefully, after a courageous battle with cancer, on Saturday, March 2, 2019 at the Hospice of the Valley, surrounded by her family. She was born on December 2, 1963 in Conneaut, Ohio the daughter of Edward J. and Barbara E. (nee Peters) Ashcraft. Mary was a 1982 graduate of St. John High School in Ashtabula.

Mary was a loving, strong-willed and honest person. She loved her family dearly and enjoyed making memories with them. Mary loved laughing and being with her parents, children, grandchildren, siblings, grandparents and aunts and uncles.

Her love and passion for her family was evident when they all gathered, and she especially enjoyed cooking and baking cookies for those gatherings. Mary also had a special bond with animals and always had a heart for rescues. Growing up she spent many hours with her horses and dogs and loved going for horseback rides with her sisters.

Mary had an active childhood and that continued throughout her adult life, going camping, swimming and enjoying the outdoors. If you knew Mary, you knew her favorite holiday was Christmas, and could be found watching Christmas movies in July. She also loved the winter season and was always hoping for snow.

You would also find her and her husband, Ted, searching for the next treasure at the many antique galleries they enjoyed visiting, while out traveling together. She is survived by her husband, John “Ted” Carle of Howland, whom she married on April 30, 1993; father, Edward J. Ashcraft, of Conneaut; children, Tiffany (Dwayne) Rowe of Niles, Ashley (Joshua) Bascom of Copley, Brandon (Ashley) Carle of Grand Rapids, MI and Gretchen Carle of Howland; grandchildren, Austin and Tyler Bittner, Blake, Colton and Caidence Rowe, Elaine Carle and Michael Carle; siblings, Edward “Joe” (Leslie) Ashcraft, Jr., Mark (Tammy) Ashcraft, Tina (Jeff Wilson) Ashcraft and Beth (Kelly) Leonardson; and her five nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Dorothy and Robert Peters, Margaret and Robert Aiken and Kenneth Ashcraft; and her dear mom, Barbara Ashcraft Calling hours will be held, Tuesday, March 5, 2019 from 5:00PM-8:00PM at the Thompson-Smith-Nesbitt Funeral Home, 345 Main St., Conneaut.

An additional calling hour will be held on Wednesday from 1PM until time of services at 2PM. Funeral services will be held, Wednesday, March 6, 2019 at 2:00PM at the Thompson-Smith-Nesbitt Funeral Home, 345 Main St., Conneaut, with Lay Leader of Prayer, Nicholas Iarocci, presiding. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
