Matt James Armstrong, 56 – Passed away on Sat, May 11, 2019 due to complication from a heart attack. Matt was born in Knoxville, TN Feb 2,1963 but spent his whole life in Mills River. Always one to beat his own drum, Matt was a great photographer, artist and bartender.

He was also a pilot who had a passion for flying like his father. Matt never knew a stranger and always had a smile and conversation for everyone. Thanks to all who reached out to him when he was ill, to show him how much he was cared for and loved.

He is survived by his loving daughter Elizabeth Armstrong of Mills River, Step-son Ireland O’Noonan of FL, His mother Joyce Armstrong of Hendersonville, two sisters Laura (Andy) Braun of FL, Sally Scott of AZ, and his Brother Dale (Nancy) Armstrong of WA. He was proceeded in death by his father James “Bill” Armstrong. A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 1st @ 11am with Pastor Doug Clewis officiating at Mill River United Methodist Church ,137 Old Turnpike Rd.

Mills River, NC 28759 In lieu of flowers, Donations may be made to his Go Fund Me Memorial. Condolences may be sent to 162 Schoolhouse Rd.
