February 24, 1944 – February 6, 2019 Maurice Joseph “Joe” Flannery, 74, of New Hope, passed away Wednesday. He was born February 24, 1944 in Bad Axe, MI. He was an Army Veteran and served in Germany from 1962-1965.

Joe was employed by the Soo Line Railroad in Chicago, IL as a switchman for many years. He was injured in an accident at work, retired on disability and moved to New Hope 25 year ago. He was preceded in death by father, Maurice Flannery, step-father, Wilburn Woody, mother, Agnes Woody, and brother, Thomas Flannery.

Surviving are sister, Kittie Graf, sister, Ann (Douglas) Dunn, sister, Joan Woody, brother, Robert (Roberta) Woody, any many nieces, nephews, grand nieces, and grand nephews. Joe loved helping to raise two very special little girls, Suni and Kylie. He was an avid golfer and loved his yearly vacations in FL to go fishing.

He especially appreciated visiting with his best friend, since jr. high, Ross Brown, and his companion, Susan. Visitation will be Saturday 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at New Hope Funeral Home.

Services will follow at New Hope Funeral Home Chapel, Saturday at 5:00 pm with Eva Reese officiating. www.
