Ida Maxine Newell 75 of Whiteville, died Monday, April 30, 2018. She was born February 3, 1943 in Columbus County, NC the daughter of the late John Leonard Zandy, Sr. and Bettie Zandy. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Billy Newell and a brother, John Leonard Zandy, Jr. Maxine was formerly employed with Whiteville City Schools as a Cafeteria Assistant Manager for more that twenty five years.

She is survived by a son, Alex Newell and wife, Gloriana of Whiteville; a daughter, Mitchalena Newell Queen and husband, Patrick of Whiteville; grandchildren, Brandon McElath of Greenville, KY, Whitney Smith of Shannon, NC, Shayanna Queen of Whiteville, William Jacob Newell of Whiteville, Timothy Gerrit Newell of Whiteville, John Lucas Newell of Whiteville; great granddaughter, Evelyn Marie McElrath of Greenville, Kentucky. Her funeral Service will be at 11:00 am Friday, May 4, 2018 at Peacock Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the Chadbourn Memorial Cemetery.
