OBITUARY Maxine R. Sorg November 6, 1922 – July 16, 2018 Maxine R. Sorg died peacefully on July 16, 2018 at Brookdale Senior Living in Fort Wayne, IN. She was born on November 6, 1922 to the late Wilma and Albert Sorg. She graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1940 as salutatorian, and worked most of her life at Phillipp’s Church Supplies, first at its location on Broadway and later, on Washington Center Road.

She enjoyed every day of her long career in customer service, retiring reluctantly when the store closed in 2000. Maxine was predeceased by her younger sisters; Dolores (Lori) Phillipp and Virginia (Ginny) Reinhart; and her brothers-in-law, Dick Phillipp and Ed Reinhart. She is survived by her nephews; Dr. Steve (Maria) Phillipp of Ft.

Wayne, Ed (Linda) Phillipp of Florida, Tom (Nur) Reinhart of Texas, and her niece, Jean Reinhart of California. Also surviving are her great nieces and nephews Richard, John and Robert Phillilpp and Laura Guthrie; Anne Youtsler, Edward, Michael and Christopher Phillipp; and Brian and Alex Reinhart. Maxine was an avid follower of Notre Dame Football who knew all the details of the games and was also known for her New Year’s Day parties where family members gathered to eat and watch football games.

In retirement she lived at Georgetown Villas in New Haven near her sister Ginny and took up gardening. While living at Georgetown Villas, she also became good friends with her neighbor Beverly Moore, whose support and friendship were a comfort and blessing to her especially after her sister Ginny passed away. In keeping with Maxine’s wishes, memorial service will be private.
