Melvin “Mel” Ressler, 87 of Cornwall, PA passed away on Thursday January 31, 2019 at The Cornwall Manor Health Center. He was the husband of Jane C. (Roberts) Ressler, with whom he celebrated 67 years in marriage. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Clarence W. and Mary (Koser) Ressler.

Mel’s entire working career was at Turkey Hill Dairy which spanned from July of 1953 to his retirement in August of 1994. He was a member of the Stevens Hill Community Church of the Brethren in Elizabethtown and also a member of ECTRA, Eastern Competitive Trail Riding Association. He loved horseback riding, working on the farm, and being the lead crew chief for his wife while she competed in competitive and endurance rides.

Mel and his wife also enjoyed traveling throughout the world with their son and daughter-in-law. Melvin loved his family and in addition to his wife, he is survived by his seven children, Ivan R Ressler of Lancaster, PA; Karen Parrett of Lititz, PA; Brian Ressler and wife Ruthann of Palmyra, PA; Dennis Ressler and wife Maria of Spring, TX; Alan Ressler of Bainbridge, PA; Tiera Persing of Spring, TX; and Nichelle and her husband Philip Larson of Camp Hill, PA. Grandchildren include Angela, Mark, Priscilla, Jonathan, Michael, Emily, Philip, Pamela, Solomon, Lila, and Sierra.

Great grandchildren include, Audrey, Miles, Oliver, and James. He is also survived by his brother, Marlin Ressler and wife Anna Ruth of Lebanon, PA; sisters, Faye and husband Lester Martin of Mt. Joy, PA; Verna Mae Climenhaga of Mechanicsburg, PA; and brother Nelson Ressler and wife Hazel of Bainbridge, PA.

The family especially would like to thank the staff at The Cornwall Manor Health Center for the loving care they gave Melvin and the support they gave the family. Relatives and friends are invited to attend Mel’s memorial service on Thursday, February 7, 2019, at 11AM at The Levi Zerr Chapel, Cornwall Manor, 1 Boyd Street, Cornwall, PA. The family will receive friends at the chapel from 10AM until time of the service.

A private interment will be at the Fairland Brethren in Christ Cemetery, Cleona, PA. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Stevens Hill Community Church of the Brethren, 3131 Turnpike Road, Elizabethtown, PA 17022.
