Mercedes Z. Murillo, age 52, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 18, 2019, at her home in Clovis, CA. Mercedes was born on January 26, 1966, in Uruapan, Michoacan, Mexico to Luis and Mercedes (Robledo) Zepeda. Mercedes immigrated to the United States on September 15, 1976.

She was a 1984 graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School in Long Beach, CA. She went on and attended Long Beach City College and went on to be a pharmacy technician for over 30 years. She married David Murillo on October 14, 1989 in Wilmington, CA.

They raised one son, David Jr and two daughters, Noemi Irene and Rebekah Ashley. Mercedes loved to cook, bake, crochet and travel around the world with her family. She found joy and satisfaction creating memories with her children, husband, family, and friends.

Mercedes had the ability to light up any room she walked in with her beautiful smile and captivating hazel eyes. She loved her church family that she had the honor to pastor for 14 years alongside her husband. In March of 2012, Mercedes began her journey in battling cancer; she was diagnosed with stage III ovarian cancer.

In October 2012, Mercedes was diagnosed with stage IV colon cancer. Through her (almost) 7 year journey living with cancer, she never let the illness stop her from doing what she loved to do. Mercedes was always one step ahead of cancer.

Mercedes was preceded in death by her mother, Mercedes. She is survived by her husband, David; her three children, David Jr. (wife, Liliana), her daughters, Noemi, and Rebekah. Her father, Luis; three brothers, two sisters, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Celebration of life services for Mercedes will be held at Cross City Christian Church in Fresno, CA on Sunday, February 3, 2019, at 6:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held at Cross City Christian Church on Monday, February 4, 2019, at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Clovis District Cemetery. Mercedes touched the lives of countless people through her life journey. She will forever be loved and remembered.
