OBITUARY Merlyn Francis Sentilles Sr. December 21, 1929 – July 20, 2018 Merlyn F. Sentilles, Sr. went to heaven to join the love of his life, Rosemary T. Sentilles, who preceded him in death. He received his Angel Wings on Friday, July 20, 2018, at the age of 88. In his final days, he was surrounded by his family and friends that he touched in many ways throughout his life.

He was the Loving father of Merlyn “Mel” F. Sentilles, Jr. (Susan), Karen Mallu (Rob), Susan Showalter (Robby), Laurie Cupstid (Steve), Angele Sentilles, Julie Doar (David) and Wendy Alphonso (Ernie). He is survived and will be fondly remembered by his 14 Grandchildren, and his 24 Great-Grandchildren. Preceded in death by his Grandson, James “Jayme” Ferret, III.

Merlyn was the son of the late Louise Perret Sentilles and Edward Anthony Sentilles, Sr. Brother of Wilbur Sentilles (Jackie) and James Sentilles (JoAnn) and the late Edward Sentilles, Jr. and Clayton Sentilles. He is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. Merlyn was a native of New Orleans, LA and a longtime resident of St. Bernard Parish.

Merlyn was a 4th Degree Member of the Archbishop Joseph F. Rummel Knights of Columbus, Council No. 5747. He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Navy in 1955.

His talents were endless, he loved his drafting and being a cabinetmaker in his early years, which grew into his passion for building. He was an extremely talented builder; his work can be seen in and around New Orleans. He was also a gifted artist.

He will be forever loved and missed by his family. We will cherish the wonderful memories we have and laugh when we think of his jokes, riddles, songs and silliness. Our family would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to his caretakers that cared for him the last three years and to the nurses at Passages Hospice New Orleans for their kindness, support and caring for our Dad.
