Mervin Eugene “Meb” Aikey, 90, of 2485 Centennial Rd. , Mifflinburg, since 1953, entered into rest at 2:55 a.m., Monday, July 16, 2018, at Watsontown Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was born March 11, 1928, in West Buffalo Township, a son of the late Hugh J. and Lena K. (Aikey) Aikey.

On March 23, 1946, in Sunrise, he married the former Edna J. Wirth, who preceded him in death December 21, 2010. Mervin attended the Church of Christ in Christian Union, Lewisburg, where he sang and played the guitar for singspirations and most every Sunday night. He was employed at American Home Foods, Milton, for 34 years, until he retired June 1, 1991.

Mervin enjoyed singing, playing the guitar and the mandolin. He enjoyed horses and in earlier years was a trail boss for the Circle M Saddle Club, Millmont. Surviving are one son, Randall L. Aikey of Mifflinburg; two daughters and one son-in-law, Carol A. Bierly, and Sylvia J. and Roger L. Lloyd, all of Mifflinburg; one daughter-in-law, Sandra I. Aikey of Mifflinburg; two brothers, Clarence R. Aikey of Florida, and Howard W. Aikey of Mifflinburg; five sisters, Vera L. Kreisher, Anna M. Mook, Nancy V. Crossgrove, all of Mifflinburg, Rachel L. Lohr of Lewisburg, and Bonnie E. Schell of Wilkes-Barre; 12 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren; and one great-great granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by one son, Charles H. Aikey; one daughter-in-law, Sandy M. Aikey; three brothers, Galen L., Hugh J., Jr. and Edward Aikey; three sisters, Amelia Hanselman, Edna Oberdorf, and Sarah E. Oberdorff; and three great grandchildren, John R. Radel, Noah L. Bierly, and Tabitha L. Aikey. Family and friends are welcome from 10 to 11 a.m., Thursday, at the Roupp Funeral Home, Inc., 8594 Old Turnpike Rd. , Mifflinburg, where the funeral will be conducted at 11, with Pastor Harry Harter, officiating.

Burial will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery. Memorial gifts may be made to the Church of Christ in Christian Union, 199 Newman Rd. , Lewisburg, PA 17837.
