OBITUARY Michael Earl Howington November 17, 1943 – November 10, 2018 Michael Earl Howington, age 74, of Tuscaloosa, Ala. , passed away November 10, 2018 at Brookwood Medical Center, Birmingham, Ala. after a short illness.

His graveside service will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, November 15, 2018, at Tuscaloosa Memorial Park with Dr. Mark Lacey officiating and Heritage Chapel Funeral Home & Cremations, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be 12:30-1:30 p.m. Thursday, November 15, 2018, at Heritage Chapel. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Lumen Earl Howington and Jessie Avery Howington; and infant brother, Thomas Avery Howington; and his in- laws, Colonel Clifton Shelby Lindsey and Lois Patterson Lindsey.

He was born in LaGrange, Ga. on November 17, 1943 and grew up in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, where he graduated from Tuscaloosa High School in 1962 and The University of Alabama in 1967. He was employed as a junior high teacher in several school systems in Georgia, Tennessee, and Alabama before retiring from Tuscaloosa County School System.

He is survived by his wife, Judith Lindsey Howington; daughters, Susanna McClellan (John) of Cottondale, Ala. and Amy Ward (the late Tony Ward) of Cusseta, Ala. ; and sons, Timothy E. Howington (Julia) of Winthrop, Mass.

, and Eric B. Howington (Samantha) of Valdosta, Ga. He has seven grandchildren, Mark McClellan of Cottondale, Ala. , Lorianne McClellan Batte (Jeremy) of Fort Polk, Louisiana, Beth and Pate Ward of Cusseta, Ala.

, Jacob Howington of Valdosta, Ga. and Veronica and Quinn Howington of Winthrop, Mass. He is also survived by numerous Avery and Howington cousins.

Mike enjoyed painting, building bookcases and other furniture, and working with plants as well as taking care of his pets. Pallbearers will be Timothy Howington, Eric Howington, John McClellan, Mark McClellan, Pate Ward and Tim Ward. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Mark United Methodist Church building fund or Calvary Baptist Church building fund.
