Obituary for Michael Edward Thomas VENUS – Michael Edward Thomas passed away at home on Wednesday, May 16, 2018, at the age of 69. Visitation: The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm Sunday May 20th at Blessing Funeral Home in Mansfield. Graveside Service: Monday May 21st 2:30 pm at Venus Cemetery in Venus, Tx.

Family will gather at Mike’s home in Venus following the service. Mike was born July 28, 1948 to Truett and Ila Thomas in Fort Worth. He grew up in Mansfield, graduated in 1967 from Mansfield High School.

On July 20, 1970 he married the love of his life Jan Prater in Glen Rose. He was a long time member and active in Johnson County Sheriffs Posse. He loved going to watch his kids and grandkids ropings, rodeos and all other activities.

Mike retired from Reeder Distributors after 25 plus years of service. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother-in-law, uncle and friend to many. He was preceded in death by his wife Jan, father Truett and son Randy.

Survivors: Mother Ila of Alvarado; daughter Vicki McDonald of Midlothian; sons, David and wife Tanya of Venus, Daughter in law Tara Thomas of Alvarado, and Joseph “Porkchop” and wife Jacqueline of Burleson; grandchildren; Amanda, Tate, Abigail, Jessica, Brittne, Taylor, Carter, Ella, Paislee and Oaklee; brothers, Mark and wife Mariann of Alvarado, Sam of Hillsboro, Luke and wife Cheri of Grandview; sisters, Sheree Kidd and husband Roger of Alvarado, Lisa Pate and husband Darryl of Alvarado and numerous nieces, nephews and a host of extended family and friends.
