Michael “Mike” David Herrel of Columbus, Ohio passed away on October 9, 2018 surrounded by loved ones. Mike was born December 2, 1947 to Richard and Maxine Herrel, and grew up on the bottoms of west Columbus. Mike was an avid sports fan, playing peewee football growing up and softball as an adult; watching his favorite teams: the Ohio State Buckeyes, the Cleveland Browns, the Columbus Blue Jackets, and most of all; coaching and watching his kids play various sports.

Anyone who knew Mike would say he loved to have fun and to make people laugh. A casual gathering will take place at Jerry Spears Funeral Home with Crematory, 2693 West Broad Street on Friday, October 12th from 4:00-7:00 PM, followed by a service of remembrance at 7:00 PM. During the service of remembrance, everyone is welcome to share stories and celebrate the memories they made with him.

Mike is preceded in death by his father and mother (Richard and Maxine). He is survived by his loving wife of over 40 years, Sandy, his children Stacy, Darrell (Lisa), Michelle, Matt, and Alaina, as well as his three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters Patricia Heery and Gloria (Tom) Stocker and brothers James Herrel, Steve (Missy) Herrel, and Mark Herrel, as well as several loved nieces and nephews.

He will be missed by his friend of over 30 years, Fred and his buddy Jack.
