Obituary for Michael J. Baer Michael J. Baer, 56, of Shippensburg, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, November 2, 2018 at his home. Born Saturday, December 2, 1961 in Chambersburg, he was a son of the late Donald E. and Carrie M. Shoemaker Baer, Sr. Michael was a 1980 graduate of the Shippensburg Senior High School. He was presently employed as a cook at the Shippensburg University.

He was an avid NASCAR fan, and a fan of all racing, including, sprint car, dirt track, and drag racing. He loved fishing and camping. He is survived by one sister, Sylvia Jean Baer, and her Fiance’ Denny Drezek, Chambersburg; and one brother, Robert E. Shoemaker, Orrstown.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Donald E. Baer, Jr. Funeral services will be held Friday, November 9, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium Remembrance Chapel, with The Rev. Barbara A. Hutchinson and The Rev. Guy Baer officiating.

Burial will be in Mongul Cemetery. A viewing will be held Thursday, from 6:00 until 7:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Friday in the Remembrance Chapel. In lieu of flowers, Michael’s wish would be that everyone spend an evening with the ones they love, in his memory.
