Obituary for Robert D. Mitchell Robert D. Mitchell, 91, of Shippensburg, passed away Sunday, December 23, 2018 in the Church of God Home, Carlisle. He was born August 20, 1927 in Newburg, PA. Robert was a son of the late Samuel F. and Mildred G. Basehore Mitchell.

He was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Walnut Bottom. In 1941 Robert started working for Red Watson’s Gulf Station then Everett’s Sunoco, Naugle Motors, Carver Hudson Agency, Kit Carson Buick and retired from General Motors, Fairfax, VA in 1987. Robert served with the United States Army during the Korean War.

He was a 1945 graduate of the former Shippensburg High School. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Leah J. Butts Mitchell who passed away April 4, 2018 and a sister, Erma Mitchell. Robert is survived by four sisters, Jean Gardner, Fay Coldsmith and Mabel Cressler all of Shippensburg and Mary Lou Rosenberry of Mechanicsburg and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Friday, December 28, 2018 at 2:30 p.m. in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Shippensburg. Officiating will be Rev. Harold A. Bolyard, Jr. Burial will be in the Spring Hill Cemetery.

A viewing will be held one hour prior to the services in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Trinity United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 217, Walnut Bottom, PA 17266. Online condolences may be expressed at www.
