Michael Joseph Melczak, 34 Columbiana – Michael Joseph Melczak, 34, passed away November 1, 2018 at his home in Columbiana. Michael was born on August 24, 1984, in East Liverpool, OH, a son of Robert Melczak and Gayle Barriger Nicotera. A 2003 graduate of Columbiana High School, he loved going to the movies and spending time on his computer visiting social media sites.

Michael enjoyed going to the Leetonia American Legion to talk with his friends and visiting his brothers in Colorado. He was proud of being an over 25 year survivor of brain cancer. Michael will be greatly missed by his mother Gayle and step-father Gene Nicotera, with whom he shared a home and his father Robert and step-mother Bobbi Melczak, all of Columbiana; brothers Cassidy Melczak, Christopher (Edelle) Rupp, Robert Melczak, and Trebor Melczak; paternal grandmother Genevieve Meloni; step-brothers Cody (Brittany) Hostutler, Vinnie and Patrick Nicotera; step-sister Caleigh (Josh) Carrothers and several aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother Barbara Barriger, who he enjoyed a very close relationship with. A memorial service will be held at noon on Saturday, November 10 at Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home, 154 S. Elm Street, Columbiana, OH 44408. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service, from 10:00 – 12:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Michael’s name to Make-A-Wish America, Gift Processing Center, 1702 E. Highland Avenue, Suite 400 Phoenix, AZ 85016.
