Michael “Mingle” Welsh June 10, 1925 – January 18, 2019 Share this obituary Send Flowers View/Sign Guest Book| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card Lambertville: Michael F Welsh died Friday January 18, 2019 at Chandler Hall Health Services in Newtown, PA. He was 93 years old. Born June 10, 1925 he was the son of Michael and Ella Welsh.

Michael was a lifelong resident of Lambertville NJ. During WW II he served in the United States Navy stationed in San Francisco and was discharged in 1946. From 1947-1988 he was the owner of Welsh’s Fine Wines on South Union St. in Lambertville.

An active member in civic and fraternal organizations he belonged to the American Legion Toscanni Post 120, the Lambertville Elks Lodge # 1070, the Lambertville-New Hope Rotary Club and the Young Men’s Athletic Club. Called “Mingle” by everyone who knew him he was very easily spotted around town. Driving around in this car with the Philadelphia Eagle widow flags, he and his wife spent Monday nights at Bell’s Tavern, Wednesdays at the Elks, Fridays at the American Legion and Sunday mornings at the Full Moon restaurant.

Michael was a member of St. John the Evangelist R.C. Church and regularly attended mass there. He is survived by his wife Dorothy Kline Welsh, one daughter Beth Schermerhorn and her husband Jeffrey, two grandchildren, Jeffrey and Meghan Schermerhorn. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday January 24 at 10:30 am at St. John the Evangelist R.C. Church, Bridge St. Lambertville.

Burial with United States Navy Honors will follow in the parish cemetery. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 6-8 pm at the Garefino Funeral Home, 12 N Franklin St. Lambertville. American Legion services will be held at 7:00 pm Wednesday at the funeral home In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Lambertville-New Hope Rescue Squad, PO Box 237 Lambertville, NJ 08530.
