Michael Patrick Boyer of Greensburg, PA, beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away at the age of 61 on Wednesday, October 10, 2018. Born in Philadelphia, PA, formerly of Cranberry Township, for the last 30 years, resided in Greensburg. He was born on October 29, 1956 and was the son of the late George Patrick Boyer and Suzanne (McMullen) Boyer.

His passion was athletics of all types. Mike loved sports and the camaraderie of team play. He played baseball, basketball and football from boyhood, and brought this love to others by coaching.

In his adult years, Mike coached basketball for the Greensburg YMCA and soccer for Greensburg Recreation. Later, he coached his sons’ basketball teams at Aquinas & Greensburg Salem along with their baseball teams at Maxwell. He eventually formed the Westco Bulldogs a travel team based in Western PA.

He coached a core group of kids from age ten to sixteen, teaching them both the love of the game, and many valuable life lessons. Mike’s influence went beyond the ballfield . The team achieved major success on the baseball field, but above all else, was proud of the men they became.

In his spare time, Mike liked to golf, walk, was an avid reader, and spent time with family and friends. He enjoyed family vacations to New Jersey beach and times spent with friends in Gulfport, FL, as well as time on the Allegheny River in East Brady, PA. He was an excellent chef who always had a delicious meal prepared for his family at the end of the day.

His salmon and seasoned sweet potatoes were the best! He was always a positive influence to whomever he encountered and lived life to its fullest. Mike was always lending a hand when someone was in need.

In his final days, he donated his corneas (as part of the organ donor LifeLink program) as a gift of life. An Accountant and CPA, Mike was the owner of Boyer Business Solutions/American Metal Sales. In earlier years he was an Accountant at Teledyne Corporation and Controller/IT director at American Hoganists.

He also prepared taxes for many friends and family members. Mike is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Annette (Georgulis) Boyer of Greensburg; sons Michael Boyer and Patrick Boyer; siblings Suzanne (Jeff) Beebe, Dorothy (James) Moreland, Barbara (Ray) McDonald, George Boyer, and William (Cathy) Boyer; 10 nephews, 9 nieces, 5 great-nephews, 5 great-nieces, mother-in-law Joyce Cline, and father-in-law James (Carol) Georgulis.
