Obituary for Michael R. Johnston Michael R. Johnston, age 62, passed away on Tuesday, December 4, 2018. He was born on July 9, 1956 to Robert and Annette (Dontje) Johnston in Big Rapids, MI. Michael proudly served his country in the United States Air Force.

On May 3, 1980 he married the love of his life, the former Susan K. Thom. He was a devoted family man and loved spending time with his grandkids. Mike enjoyed reading, deer hunting and flying.

He was a private pilot and flight instructor for many years. He will be missed dearly by his friends and family. Mike is survived by his wife of 38 years, Sue Johnston; children, Julie (Eric) Grinwis, Steven (Kailey) Johnston; grandchildren, Luca and Myles Grinwis, Carter and Cora Johnston; brother, Todd (Jennifer) Johnston; sister, Paula (Gary) Howard; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert. A MEMORIAL SERVICE for Michael will take place on Saturday, December 8, 2018 at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St. (231-798-1100) at 10:00 AM with visitation taking place one hour prior to the service. Feel free to share a memory with the family at www.
