Went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 10, 2019, at Henry Ford Hospital with family by his side. He was 71 years old. Michael Allen Hein was born on July 20, 1947 to the late Randolph and Joyce (Walters) Hein in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
He was a 1965 graduate of Wisconsin Lutheran High School. Following graduation, Mike attended Dr. Martin Lutheran College in New Ulm, Minnesota; graduating in 1969 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education. He married Cynthia L. Mahler on July 12, 1969 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin; she survives him.
Mike attended Michigan State University and graduated with his Master’s Degree from Saginaw Valley State University. He served as a teacher with First Lutheran School in LaCrosse, WI, Pilgrim Lutheran School in Menominee Falls, WI, Michigan Lutheran Seminary, and served as both a teacher and principal at St. Paul Ev. Lutheran School in Saginaw.
He was a faithful 40 year member of St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church on Court and Bond Streets. Within the past six years, Mike served as an elder at the church.
He enjoyed golfing with friends. Christmas was his favorite holiday. He enjoyed decorating, listening to Christmas music, but loved the Advent in Christmas services the most.
Above all, he loved spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren, and friends. Surviving are his beloved wife of 49 years, Cynthia L. Hein of Saginaw; two sons and two daughters, Jonathan (Rebecca) Hein of Waukesha, WI; Jessica (Jason) Zahn of Palm Coast, FL; Jennifer (Jonathan) Agenten of Hartford, WI; and James (Adrian) Hein of Milwaukee, WI; eight grandchildren, Caleb and Joshua Hein; Micah and Susannah Zahn; Jackson, Charles, Eloise, and Lillian Agenten; one brother, Gerald (Kathie) Hein of Englewood, FL; and two sisters-in-law, Rebecca Hein of Slinger, WI, and Christine (Charles) Meyer of Jansen, NE. Besides his parents, Mike was preceded in death by a brother, David Hein.
A Memorial Service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 16, 2019 at St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church, 1020 Court Street off Bond Street. Pastor David Naumann will officiate and Pastor James Huebner will preach.
Friends may call at the W. L. Case and Company Funeral Chapel, 4480 Mackinaw Rd. on Friday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to St. Paul Ev.
