Michael Joseph Stevens, age 32, of Reading, Pennsylvania died suddenly on Wednesday, November 28, 2018. He was born on November 17, 1986 in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was the son of Daniel and Sandra Stevens, brother of Christopher Stevens, and partner of Brian Keefer.

From a young age, Michael struggled with the disease of addiction. He started his journey of recovery on July 8, 2013 after going through treatment at Caron Treatment Centers and Transitions in Recovery. Michael loved people and the cornerstone of his recovery was service to others.

He devoted countless volunteer hours to the men living at Transitions throughout his recovery. In 2014, he started his career in the recovery field at Caron Treatment Centers. His generosity was immeasurable and beautiful smile could light up a room in an instant.

Throughout Michael’s recovery, he courageously confronted years of pain and challenging life experiences. Michael was beloved and a beacon of light in the recovery community. He was able to help because of how bravely he faced his own darkness.

Despite valiant efforts, he lost his battle with the disease of addiction. Michael’s life will not be defined by its tragic ending. He will forever be remembered by the people he helped and the immense joy he brought to others.

His family and friends would like to keep Michael’s memory alive by helping others receive drug and alcohol treatment. Memorial Service will be held at Bean Funeral Home & Crematory, 3825 Penn Ave. Sinking Spring, PA 19608 on Tuesday, December 4, 2018 at 11:00am.

The family will receive relatives and friends from 9:00am-11:00am at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Michael Stevens memory to Caron Treatment Centers, Attn: Development Office, PO Box 150, Wernersville, PA 19565 or online at www. caron.org/give-to-caron/donate-form.
