MICHELLE BRIGGS, 11 of Brandon, passed away Tuesday, January 22, 2019, at her home surrounded by her family. Michelle was born March 27, 2007, at Childress, Texas to Chod and Pamela (Walker) Briggs. The family would eventually make their home in Brandon, Nebraska, where they were close to extended family.
In May of 2016, Michelle was diagnosed with cancer and had been in and out of hospitals since that time. Despite the heavy cross she had to carry, Michelle always seemed gratified by the happiness she could give to others. As Michelle traversed the journey of her illness, there were things that the cancer and countless surgeries couldn’t take from her, like her generosity, smile, and inspiring strength of spirit.
She was so loved, and she had a way of just amplifying the love she got and giving it back to the people around her. For instance, as a child, Michelle was always inspired to pick bouquets of “flowers” and present them to her mom, with her flowers of choice being the dandelions from the yard. While her bouquets always contained a variety of dandelions, she liked to keep the white ones for herself, so she could blow on them and watch as the puffs danced away.
Michelle also loved watching YouTube videos, especially the ones that involved making slime. She became a bit of an expert on the subject herself, having made countless batches of slime with new and different ingredients. Michelle also had a love for the family’s many cats, and especially her new lab retriever puppy.
Her earthly journey ended quietly on Tuesday afternoon, but the way she lived her life serves as such a loud witness to the love and goodness of God. Survivors include her parents, Chod and Pam Briggs of Brandon; her siblings, Andrea Walker, Leigh (Brian) Williams and their children Jaxson and Quinndalynn, Jessyca Briggs, Justin (Sarah) Briggs and their child, Eden, Ashley Briggs, Tyler Briggs, and Alyssa Briggs; maternal grandma, Virginia Walker of Cabool, MO; paternal grandparents, Dan (Shari) Briggs of Grant; uncles, Shane (Karma) Briggs of Ogallala, Justin (Nicole) Briggs of Imperial, Telly Briggs of Imperial; along with many other relatives and friends. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in her memory for later designation.
