Mike Kelly, formerly of Warsaw, Indiana and presently of North Manchester, Indiana passed away at 6:26 p.m. on Monday, May 27, 2019 at Lutheran Hospital of Fort Wayne, Indiana at the age of 86. He was born on June 27, 1932 in Pineville, Missouri to Verna (Hire) Kelly and Harry Boone Kelly. On June 2, 1957 he was married to Elizabeth Ann (Manring) Kelly, who survives.

Mike graduated from Anderson High School in Anderson, Missouri. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged as a Captain from the United States Army Reserve on September 1, 1965. He received his Master’s degree in poultry nutrition from the University of Missouri and his PhD in animal nutrition from the University of Illinois.

He lived in the Chicago area where he worked at Hale’s and Hunter Feed Company. He also served on the staff of Virginia Tech University for six years. Mike moved to Alabama and worked for a number of years for the Jim Dandy Pet Food Company.

In 1982 he moved to Warsaw and worked for Maple Leaf Farms until his retirement. He always kept busy, even in retirement he kept working part time as a consultant. He enjoyed wood working, loved dogs and the outdoors.

He was a very active member of Warsaw Evangelical Presbyterian Church. Mike especially loved his family and grandchildren, and will be forever loved. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 61 years, Elizabeth Ann Kelly (North Manchester, Indiana); two sons: David Kelly (Madison, Alabama); Daniel (Cynthia) Kelly (Ft.

Wayne, Indiana) ; and his daughter: Debra (Katsuhiro) Ohkawa (Monroeville, Pennsylvania). Also surviving are three grandchildren, and his brother, Robert Perry Kelly (Bartlesville, Oklahoma). He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, and two sisters.

Mike’s life will be celebrated with a memorial service on Saturday, June 1, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Warsaw Evangelical Presbyterian Church, 210 S. High Street, Warsaw, Indiana and officiated by Dr. Jace Broadhurst and Pastor Andrew Morton. There will be calling an hour prior to the service from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. Burial will take place at a later date at Oakwood Cemetery of Warsaw. Arrangements were entrusted to Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw, Indiana.

Memorial donations may be directed to Warsaw Evangelical Presbyterian Church, 210 S. High Street, Warsaw, Indiana 46580 and would be appreciated by the family.
