Mike’s Obituary Michael G Schmidt, 57, of Rapid City, SD, formerly of Pierre, SD, died Saturday, May 18, 2019 at Ava’s House in Sioux Falls, SD. Visitation: Wednesday, May 22, 2019, 5-7pm, Isburg Funeral Chapel Funeral Service: Thursday, May 23, 2019 at 11am, at The Church Of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Pierre A second funeral service will be held at 3pm on Friday May 24th at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Clear Lake SD with a visitation from 2pm to 3pm Interment: Lakeview Cemetery, Clear Lake, SD on Friday, May 24, 2019 Online condolences may be written at: www. isburgfuneralchapels.com Mike was born February 12, 1962 to Gerhard and Esther (Naeve) Schmidt in Clear Lake, SD.

He grew up, attended school and graduated in Clear Lake. After high school he joined the US Army and served in Germany for 3 years. He was reserve for one year.

He was a sharpshooter-M-16 rifle, a marksman-hand grenade, received a Good Conduct Medal, Army service Ribbon and Overseas service ribbon. After returning from the Army he lived in Sioux Falls before moving to Pierre in 1989. He married Laura Snow in Pierre on July 15, 2017.

They moved to Rapid City in 2017. He was a member of the Pierre Bowling League and NHRA Drag Racing. He enjoyed announcing, drag racing and traveling around the Black Hills.

Mike is survived by his wife, Laura of Rapid City, his mother and step-father, Esther and Ron Krause of Clear Lake, brother Robert Schmidt of Clear Lake, and sister Margie (Mike) Arnold of San Antonio, TX. He is also survived by his step-children; Stephanie Snow (Jorgen Wadkins) of Minneapolis, MN, Danny Snow of Pearl Harbor Naval Base, HI, Megan (Kaleb) Fischer of Pierre, and Brittani Snow of Pierre/St. Paul, MN and 2 step-grandchildren; Seamus and River of Pierre. He is also survived by his parents-in-law; Tom and Linda Wilson of Tridell, UT, Gary and Vela Freestone of Vernal, UT, as well as brothers and sisters-in-law; Kevin (Rosie Murphy) of Belle Fourche, SD, Marc Wilson of Tridell, UT, Patti (Paul Deacon) Kennington of Madison, SD, Emily (Adam) Swasey of Duchesne, UT, Carrie Lamb of Cotulla, TX, Lisa Johnston of Vernal, UT, John Wilson, Tridell, UT.
