Mildred Hansen October 16, 1922 – February 26, 2019 Share this obituary Upload Photo| Sign Guestbook| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card Mildred (Millie) Hansen, of Hinckley (formerly of Sandstone) went home to the Lord on Tuesday, February 26, 2019, at Elderwood Assisted Living in Hinckley MN. Millie was 96 years old. Millie was born in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho to Nathaniel (Dan) and Sophia (Hoffman) Tonn October 16, 1922.
She was the second eldest in her family. Siblings include Allen, Eugene, Dan, Helen and Carol. She graduated from Lodi Academy in Lodi, California.
On October 20, 1945 she was united in marriage to Robert (Bob) Hansen in Hinckley MN. They resided in Hinckley until 1982 when they moved to Cambridge and then to Donna, Texas. Millie and Bob returned to Sandstone in 1995 when they moved to the new Wild River Apartments.
Millie moved to Elderwood in 2016. Millie enjoyed fishing, camping, cooking and baking, raising Samoyed puppies, reading, puzzles, games and spending time with her family. She attended the Hinckley Evangelical Church and was an AWANA leader for six years.
When their family was growing she was a Sunday School teacher and Release Time instructor. Millie was a prayer warrior and sharing her faith was very important to her. During the early years of their marriage they farmed the family homestead west of Hinckley.
She also worked at the Beanery, Tobies and at the Cambridge State School and Hospital as a nurse’s aide and LPN for many years. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Bob, brothers Allen and Eugene and sister Helen. Millie will be greatly missed by her sons Rod (Kathy) of Aurora, MN, Mike (Rose) of Sandstone, and daughter Donna (Jim) Doxtater of Great Falls, MT, brother Dan Tonn and sister Carol Marshal, four grandchildren; Charlene (Ross) VanDerSchaegen of Minneapolis, MN, Scott (Lisa) Hansen of Chisholm, MN, Dan (fiancé Wanda Flanigan) Hansen of Menomonie, Wl, and Jay Hansen of Superior, WI.
Step-grandchildren; Jed (Molly) Doxtater of Casper, Wyoming and Jeremy (Megen) Doxtater of Roswell, Georgia, Great-grandchildren; Kory VanDerSchaegen, Noah, Uriah, Joshua, Sarah, Jeremiah Hansen, and Kieran Hansen, Step-Great-grandchildren; Hunter Flanigan, Anna and Jackson Doxtater. A memorial gathering will be held from 10:00 – 11:00 with a memorial service at 11:00 am on Friday, March 8, 2019 at the Hinckley Evangelical Free Church. The family would like to express their gratitude to the caring and loving staff of Elderwood Assisted Living and St. Croix Hospice.
