Obituary for Mildred L. Lee (Smith) Mildred L. Lee, 94, of Battle Creek, Michigan, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, January 4, 2019. She was born on March 8, 1924 in Alpine, TN, the daughter of John O. Smith and Myrtle Smith. Mildred graduated from Alpine Academy for Girls in Alpine, TN.
She married the love of her life, Lloyd on June 14, 1942, then moved to Battle Creek in 1954, he precedes her in death. She is survived by her daughter, Carol (Bob) Gammons; two grandchildren, Rori (John) Ross and Jeff (Araceli) Gammons; great-grandson, Teo Gammons; three great-granddaughters, Sofia Gammons, Kaylee Ross and Sydney Ross. She was preceded in death by her Father, John O. Smith, Mother, Myrtle Smith, Three Sister’s, Obelia Katz, Jessie Dillon and Viola Huff.
She was a homemaker but enjoyed volunteering in the community and taking care of her family. Mildred was an avid member of the Lakeview Baptist Church. She enjoyed sewing, keeping up with her flower garden, hosting parties with family and friends, playing cards, and seeing her friends from Florida.
She enjoyed playing shuffle board at Lake Region Village in Florida, where her and Lloyd spent 32 years in the winter. She served on many boards at Lake Region Village. Her main passion however was her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
