Miriam Patricia “Mikki” Ehrhardt Murden, 84, of Ehrhardt, passed away peacefully at home, Thursday, November 1, 2018. She was born in Ehrhardt, SC on April 13, 1934, to the late Archie B. Ehrhardt and the late Nellie C. Hodges Ehrhardt. She was the great granddaughter of the founder of the Town of Ehrhardt, Conrad Ehrhardt and his wife Anna Dora.

Surviving are: her six children, Van Eugene (Joyce) Searson of Bamberg, Marilyn Faye (Ronald) Prevatte of Ehrhardt, Michael Dale (Tammy) Searson of Bamberg, Maxwell Hale (Tina) Searson of Orangeburg, Dwayne Mitchell Searson of Ehrhardt and Dwight Vernon Searson of Bamberg. She has fifteen grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. She is also survived by her two sisters, Eunice Ann Hutto of Ehrhardt and Ruth Marie Mosser of West Columbia; and one brother, Angus Jerome Ehrhardt of Hartsville; a special niece and caregiver Connie Howell of Orangeburg; and a honorary family member, parker Lyons of Walterboro; along with her beloved dog, Jake.

She was preceded in death by her husband and children’s father, Van Maxwell Searson, Jr She was a 1954 graduate of Ehrhardt High School and was a licensed cosmetologist. She owned and operated Mikki’s Beauty Shop for many years.

She was a member and served on the board of the Ehrhardt memorial Lutheran Church. She was one of the founding members of the Schuetzenfest Committee in 1976 and served on it for many years. She was the founder of the Ehrhardt Cemetery Fund and served as secretary and treasurer until her recent illness.

She was a former member of the Nora Stanley Garden Club, the Dixie Garden Club and the Ehrhardt Downtown Beautification Committee and was a past president of the Lioness Club. She was nominated for the Bamberg County Chamber Waddy Thompson Citizen of the Year Award and was the recipient of the Emma Ruth Dowling Unity Award. She was dedicated to her church and community in which she volunteered and served in many different capacities.

She was passionate about gardening and loved flowers and was always growing them to give her friends and family. Funeral services will be held at 11 o’clock, Saturday morning, November 3, 2018 at The Brice Herndon Funeral Home, Ehrhardt-Bamberg Chapel. Interment will follow in the Ehrhardt Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 10 am until the hour of service Saturday morning. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial contributions be made to: Ehrhardt Memorial Lutheran Church, Post Office Box 128, Ehrhardt, SC 29081; or to the Ehrhardt Cemetery Fund, Post Office Box 133, Ehrhardt, SC 29081.
