Obituary for Mitchell C. Carey Mitchell C. Carey, age 72 passed away Friday, December 28, 2018 at Methodist Northlake Hospital in Gary, Indiana, surrounded by his loving and caring family. He was born on July 26, 1946 in Gary, Indiana to the late, Mann Shields and Thedoshia Carey. He was a 1967 graduate of Emerson High School in Gary, Indiana.

He fought in the Viet-Nam war from 1967-1970. He also attended Bay Ridge Christian College in Kendleton, Texas. Mr. Carey was a member of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church and sung with the Men’s Choir.

He worked 25 years with the Gary Community School Corporation. He is preceded in death by his parents, Thedoshia Carey and Mann Shields and three siblings; Lemmie Ward, Ernest Carey and Randolph Carey. He leaves to cherish his fond memories, his loving wife Dorothy M. Carey, one daughter, Kemesha Williams and one grandson Tyland Armour of Zionsville, Indiana, four siblings Mary Johnson, Ruth (Warren) Kimbrough, Joe King and William Carey all of Gary, Indiana.

Four sisters-in-law; Phyllis Carey, Geraldine (Harold) Brown, Juanita Armour and Vernell (Darryl) Anderson and two brothers-in-law, Alvin Armour Jr. and Donald Armour along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
