YOUNGSTOWN – Myron E. Hnatiw, 62, passed away Tuesday evening, April 17, 2018, following a six-month illness. Myron was born Nov. 8, 1955, in Youngstown, a son of Emil and Nina Kuzmenko Hnatiw, and lived most of his life in Youngstown.

He was a graduate of Chaney High School and was a June 1977 magna cum laude graduate of Youngstown State University, earning a B.S. degree in Business Administration. An accountant, Myron worked for Union Carbide in Marietta and in Charleston, W.Va. , and then locally for Western Reserve Care System.

Myron was a member of St. Anne Ukrainian Catholic Church in Austintown. He was also an honorary member of Phi Kappa Phi and Alpha Tau Gamma professional honor societies. One of his finest qualities was that he was always willing to help whenever or however it was needed.

Myron had a special love of animals, and enjoyed it most when he could help an animal in need. Myron leaves to cherish his memory his mother, Nina, with whom he shared his home; a sister, Lisa Hnatiw of Youngstown; and his feline companion, Lucy. Myron’s father, Emil, passed away in 1999.

Per Myron’s request, funeral services were private. Interment took place at Calvary Cemetery in Youngstown. Arrangements were entrusted to Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Rd.

, Youngstown. Because of his love for animals, Myron’s family suggests memorial contributions may be made in his name to Angels for Animals, 4750 W. South Range Rd. , Canfield, OH 44406; or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
