Obituary for Nancy Carol Sperry Mecham After a valiant and courageous fight with cancer Nancy Carol Sperry Mecham passed away peace-fully surrounded by her family on December 30, 2018. Nancy was born on March 8, 1942 to John and Vera Sperry. She was the oldest of four children.

Nancy was raised on a farm in Shelton, Idaho where she developed her love for animals, people, life, and the gospel. Her fairy tale love story began when she met Gary Davis Mecham. They were married in the Idaho Falls Temple on June 15th, 1963, and have truly lived “happily ever after”.

Together they raised six children. Nancy knew that Heavenly Father played an important role in getting her children here. Her favorite place to be was with her family making memories.

One of her greatest joys was being a grandma to her twenty-two grandchildren and GG to her ten great-grandchildren. She loved creating memories with them through holiday parties, attending their many events, time at their family cabin, and summer reunions. Her cinnamon rolls and dinner rolls were a family favorite, and a must have at family gatherings.

Nancy graduated with a bachelors degree in elementary education. Her love for children led her to a teaching career of 24 years. Nancy lived a Christ-centered life in word and deed.

She will always be remembered for her kind-ness and quiet ministering acts. Nancy loved to serve others and could often be found at your door with a plate of cookies or some kind of treat. She was loved by those who knew her.

Nancy’s love for her family, friends, and the Lord were evident in her everyday actions and interactions with those around her. We’d like to thank the many family and friends who have visited, sent letters, and called. We ap-preciate the acts of kindness, love, and support that have been shown to our family during this dif-ficult time.

Nancy was proceeded in death by her parents John and Vera Sperry and grandson Cyle Van Komen. She is survived by her loving husband Gary D. Mecham and children, Scott (Stephanie) Mecham, Brad (Becca) Mecham, Randy (Debbie) Mecham, Ranae (Brad) Finch, Heidi (Scott) Merritt, Rick (Jennifer) Mecham, twenty-two grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren.
