Albert Leon “Lee” Hagen, 91, of Provo passed away on Tuesday, February 19, 2019. He was born on April 14, 1927 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Albert and LaVon Hagen. He married the love of his life, Margaret “Marge” Ford on January 4, 1952 in Sacramento, California, and they were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on April 16, 1954.

She preceded him in death on April 27, 1989. Lee graduated from South High School at the age of 17 in May 1944 and enlisted in the U.S. Navy; he was honorably discharged on August 3, 1946. Lee then enrolled at the University of Utah and graduated with high honors earning a bachelor’s of science degree in Electrical Engineering on June 14, 1949.

He was selected as a member of the Phi Kappa Phi honor society. Following graduation, Lee enjoyed an outstanding 41-year career at General Electric with highlights including: worldwide assignments, NSA, and the Apollo space program. Lee was a lifelong active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in various church callings with his most favorite being a dedicated home teacher.

Following retirement in 1991, he committed his time and energy to service in the Washington D.C. Temple, eventually being set apart as a sealer. After moving to Utah, he served as a sealer in the Mount Timpanogas Temple. One of the highlights for Lee was sealing in marriage one of his children and several of his grandchildren.

While serving in the Washington D.C. Temple, Lee met Marian Gray, a sister missionary and widow from Utah. Following the completion of her mission, they were married and settled in Orem, Utah. Enjoying 25 years together, they served a Salt Lake City Family History Mission and also enjoyed traveling.

Lee is survived by his six children: David (Annabella) Hagen of Provo, UT; Cheri (Jim) Zornes of Portland, OR; Valerie (Loren) Sucher of Lehi, UT; Andrea (Paul) Holland of Wilmington, DE; Randall (Gina) Hagen of Ellicott City, MD; Stephanie (Dave) Marcellino of Raleigh, NC; 24 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his sweetheart, Marge, his parents, his sister, Norma, and his granddaughter, Tandi. Memorial service will be held Friday, February 22, 2019 at 10 am at the Sundberg-Olpin Funeral Home located at 495 S. State St., Orem, UT 84058.

Burial will be in Rockville, MD at Parklawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family requests any donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association Utah. Condolences may be expressed to the family on this page.
