Gertrude Anne McCormack was born in Boise, Idaho on June 2, 1947, to Harold Patrick and Ruby Mathews McCormack. Her father passed away when she was only four months old, and she was raised by her widowed mother. Their time spent together created a very strong bond and made them incredibly close until Ruby passed in 1976.

Anne, as she preferred to be called, was raised in Caldwell, Idaho. Living in a small town she made many lifelong friends who remain close relations today. After high school, Anne went to nursing school at Lewis and Clark College in Lewiston, Idaho.

After becoming a Licensed Practical Nurse she worked at the Veterans Hospital in Boise, the Idaho State Hospital, and several retirement homes over the years. In 1985, Anne moved her teenage daughter, Nicole, and her young son, Ryan, to Orem, Utah, to be near her lifelong friend and honorary sister, Jan Palmer, and to continue her education. Anne attended Utah Valley University, where she earned an Associates Degree.

In Utah she continued work as a nurse at places like the Utah State Hospital. Anne raised her family in Orem, where she met several close friends, including Joyce Coleman who will speak at her service. She also grew closer to her best friend, Jan and her wonderful family.

Some of her happiest times were spent with her taking her family to gatherings with the Palmers, where she was lovingly known as Auntie Anne. She also enjoyed going to the movies with her friends and her son, drives in the mountains when the leaves were turning, and trips to Sundance where she enjoyed the beautiful surroundings and always hoped to spot her heart throb Robert Redford. Anne later moved to Lehi, where she was cared for by her daughter, Nicole.

She was extremely proud of her son, Ryan, and constantly encouraged him to continue his education and publish his research. Anne’s greatest joy in her life were her grandkids, Kael and Amara. She would count the days looking forward to her next trip to visit them in Moscow, Idaho, Las Vegas, and later Anchorage, Alaska.

Kael and Amara were her pride and joy. Anne is survived by her daughter, Nicole McCormack of Lehi, Utah, her son, Dr. Ryan Harrod, his spouse Stephanie, her grandchildren, Kael and Amara Harrod of Anchorage, Alaska, and the Jan and Roger Palmer family of Provo, Utah. Anne passed away on February 19, 2019, in Lehi, Utah, surrounded by her family.

Funeral services will be Saturday, February 23, 2019, at the Sego Lily Ward church building at 880 North 700 East, Lehi, Utah, at 1:00 p.m. There will be a viewing from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. and the burial will follow at the Lehi City Cemetery.
