Nancy Fanara-Berrian, age 57, died on January 5, 2019 at the Elaine Center surrounded by her family, from breast cancer that was first diagnosed in 2009. Nancy was born on December 1, 1961 in Waltham, Massachusetts to Nancy and Charles Fanara. She graduated from Marshwood High School in Eliot, ME in June 1979 and went on to achieve a Bachelor’s degree in History from the University of Southern Maine in 1984.

Nancy was an accomplished musician. She played guitar and in her younger years she sang lead with a band called Malachite. Most recently, Nancy was admitted to the Masters in Social Work program at Simmons College.

She was a light in so many lives. Nancy had a love of learning and healing. She always found time to guide and encourage her friends.

Nancy is survived by her two sons, Nathaniel (Nate) and Christian (CJ) Berrian, by her parents Nancy and Charles Fanara of Westfield, her sister and brother-in-law, Amy and Gary Jacobson of Westfield, her brother and sister-in-law Richard and Lynne Fanara of Mililani, Hawaii, nieces Jordan Jacobson and Renee Estes, nephews Joshua and Matthew Jacobson and Charles Fanara, cousins, and many devoted friends. Nancy’s sons, CJ and Nate, were the lights of her world and her greatest loves. The family gives special thanks to the staff at the Elaine Center in Hadley, Hospice of the Fisher Home and Nancy’s friends who so lovingly took care of her in her final weeks.

A funeral service and celebration of Nancy’s life will be held on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at Mitchell Funeral Home, 15 Park Street, Easthampton. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her name to The United Arc in Turners Falls, MA.
