Nancy Louise Cranford November 17, 1938 – February 09, 2019 Share this obituary Send Flowers Sign Guestbook| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card Nancy Louise Cranford, age 80, passed away peacefully at the Sublette Center in Pinedale, Wyoming on February 9, 2019. Nancy, or Louise as her close family called her, was born in Melvin, Kentucky on November 17, 1938. She was the daughter of Edward and Lizzie Newman.

She had four sisters, Lucille Moss, Abbey Frasher, Pauline Vilak and Maxine Burcham. She also had two brothers, Edward Newman, Jr. and Ted Newman. Nancy grew up in Melvin, Kentucky and attended Wheelwright School until her senior year of high school when her family moved to Ohio.

She attended her senior year of high school at Green Township High School in Franklin Furnace, Ohio. Nancy received her bachelors degree in elementary education from Florida Atlantic University. Nancy married the love of her life, Miles Cranford, on September 25, 1957.

They enjoyed 61 years of marriage together and set a wonderful example for their children. Nancy taught elementary school as her two children were growing up. She also worked as a secretary in Civilian Services at Warren Air Force Base when the family lived in Wyoming.

Though she lived many places, Nancy was always a true Kentuckian at heart and was proud of her Kentucky roots. She was a lady of courage and a deep inner strength. She loved people and cared deeply for others, especially her family and had a beautiful smile and brightened the days of many.

Nancy grew up in the Joppa Church of the Old Regular Baptist Church and was a Bible believing Christian all of her life. Nancy was very devoted to her family and loved them greatly. She also loved to read and was an excellent writer, and even wrote a children’s book, which she thought about publishing someday.

She especially loved spending time with her grandson, David Rule, and was a big part of his life when he was growing up. She was always very proud of her family. Nancy was an example of how to persevere in tough times.

She had many health problems since childhood, and especially during the last years of her life, yet, her spirit seemed to soar above the burdens she so gallantly endured. Nancy is survived by her husband Miles Cranford of Pinedale, WY, daughter, Karen Rule (Bob) of Pinedale, WY, her son, Kevin Cranford (Jenny) of Hamilton, Ohio, her grandson, David Rule of Pinedale, WY, three step grandchildren and four step great grandchildren, three sisters and two brothers. She is also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Nancy is preceded in death by her infant grandson, Scott Robert Rule, her parents, and her sister Lucille Moss. Family and friends are invited to meet at Covill Funeral Home in Pinedale for a viewing on Friday evening, February 22, 2019 from 6-7pm. Funeral services for Nancy will be held Saturday morning, February 23, 2019 at Pinedale Bible Church at 11am.
