Natale’s Obituary Natale (Nat) DeLucio, 62, a resident of Brush, passed away on Wednesday, May 22, 2019, at the East Morgan County Hospital following a courageous battle with cancer. He was born December 16, 1956, in Garden Grove, California. Nat grew up in Garden Grove near Disneyland.
Although he was born with a hole in his heart which limited his early activities, open heart surgery at 11 years old enabled him to lead a full and healthy life. He was the youngest of four children, and their parents provided a loving home full of many memories of lively family gatherings with good food, music, and taking their boat to Catalina Island for summer vacations. At Garden Grove High School, he enjoyed playing football, wrestling, and track.
Like his father and brothers, Nat was gifted with mechanical abilities and using his hands. In California, he drove big rigs across the country for Yellow Transit Freight Lines. This is where he met the love of his life, Ruby Harbert, who was the Yellow Freight dispatch operator.
Nat also drove big rigs and worked on the pit crew for Quaker State NASCAR racing team. When Ruby’s health was failing, he purchased a home in Brush in 2001 to be closer to Ruby’s mother, Marjorie Harbert. Nat worked for the Colorado Department of Corrections in Sterling as a Correctional Officer for 15 years before retiring for health reasons.
Nat appreciated his dear friends in Brush, being involved in the local gun club, constructing model cars and planes, and frequenting the Home Plate #2 for good food served by his friends. He was able to travel to California for Christmas last year—a special memory for all of us (see photo). His surviving family in Brush include his wife (Ruby DeLucio) and mother-in-law (Marjorie Harbert).
Survivors in California include his sister (Mary Ann Clayton); brothers (Andy and Dennis DeLucio); his nieces (Denise Clayton and Jill DeLucio); his nephews (Glenn, Nick, Scott, and Alan DeLucio); and extended family of cousins, nephew’s spouses, and their children. Nat was preceded in death by his father and mother (Alfonso & Joan DeLucio). The DeLucio family is sincerely grateful to the town of Brush for all their love and support to Nat & Ruby over the years.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Memorial services will be held in both Brush and California. The Brush memorial will be held at All Saints Church of Eben Ezer (120 Hospital Road, Brush, CO) on Saturday, June 15, 2019, at 11 am with lunch following the service.
