NATHANIEL B. CHAPPLE Deacon Nathaniel B. Chapple, Sr. the second child of the late Willie Chapple and Verda Houston- Chapple entered this world on August 21,1940 in Minden, Louisiana. Deacon Chapple was educated at Webster High School in Minden, Louisiana. After graduating from high school, he moved to Kansas City where he worked at Braniff Airlines and Honeywell formerly known as Bendix.
In 2007, Deacon Chapple retired. He received recognitions from Allied Signal, MO Health Care Association, Senior Estates and International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Works. He loved having Bible Study every Wednesday at the Swope Parkway Nursing Home with the residents, which he did for over 35 years.
Deacon Chapple loved teaching Sunday School and was mentored in this capacity by the late Mother Derother Landrum. He enjoyed listening to gospel quartets, watching western movies, sports and played baseball in his high school years. Deacon Chapple accepted Christ at an early age at Mount Zion C.M.E. Temple in Minden, Louisiana.
He met his first wife, Helen Gleason and to this union two children were born, DeWayne Gleason-Chapple and Carlton Lamont Chapple. Later on in his life he attended Evangelist Temple Christ Unlimited Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Bishop Carl Landrum, Sr. While under his leadership, Deacon Chapple was ordained as a deacon on November 4, 1990. Deacon Chapple met his second wife, Antoinette Hall and to this union three children were born, Nathaniel Chapple, Jr., Marie Chapple-Pittman and James L. Chapple, Sr. As time passed, the Lord led him to continue his service of the Lord at The Church of the Living God under the leadership of Bishop Rolma Jones and Dr. Courtney Wells.
He also was a member of Step Out On Faith Worship Center under the leadership of Elder Michael Taylor. In 2016, he came under watch care at Evangelist Temple House of Refuge for All Nations Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Bishop C. David Willis. Deacon Nathaniel B. Chapple, Sr. answered once again the Master’s call on Friday, February 1, 2019.
His parents, Willie Chapple and Verda Houston-Chapple; brother, Rufus LaBlue; sister Noisey Washington; son, Carlton Lamont Chapple and close friend, Dr. Courtney Wells preceded him in death. Deacon Chapple leaves to cherish his life, sons, Anthony Bostic (Fareeda), DeWayne Gleason-Chapple (Janet), Nathaniel Chapple, Jr. (Crystal), and Elder James L. Chapple, Sr. (Amy); daughter, Marie Chapple-Pittman (Eric) all of Kansas City; special friend, Ardell Pierce of Kansas City; sisters, Dorothy Gilbert and Minister Neburetta Marshall of Minden, Louisiana; 29 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, close friends Deacon Calvin Willis, Deacon L.T. Bailey, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and church family. Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 P.M. on Saturday, February 9, 2019 at Evangelist Temple 2315 Benton Blvd.
