OBITUARY Nell Malene Cammer December 8, 1921 – January 28, 2019 Malene Cammer, 97, formerly of Norfolk, Virginia, passed away peacefully January 28, 2019. She was a native of Gates County, NC, and was the daughter of the late Sawney Edward and Genevieve Askew Eure. In additional to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 66 years, George E. Cammer, three brothers and five sisters.

Surviving is her daughter, Robyn Cammer, of Waynesville, NC. Malene was a USO entertainer during World War II and worked for Old Dominion Tobacco Company. She was raised on a farm in Eastern NC and enjoyed her last years living again on a farm in Waynesville while working in her gardens—one of her favorite hobbies, other than cooking.

She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Waynesville. A gathering of friends and family will be at Garrett Funeral Home, 460 N. Main Street, Waynesville, NC, on Thursday, January 31, 2019, from 3 – 5 pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her name may be made to Catman2 Shelter, 637 Bo Cove Road, Cullowhee, NC 28723.
