Obituary for Nellie Bower Nellie Bower, a long-time resident of Woodstown, passed away on Tuesday, January 1, 2019 at age 93. Nell was born in Glassboro on October 19, 1925, the second daughter of Anthony and Wilamina Bonino. She graduated from Glassboro High School, the first in her family to graduate from high school.
After graduation, she worked as an operator for Bell Telephone. She later served as an office manager for Thomas Jefferson Hospital and Elmer Community Hospital. She was an avid reader, often reading several books a week.
She instilled this love of learning in many others, especially her niece Virginia. She was fond of travel, visiting places as diverse as Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia and Chicago. Nell married Frank Bower in 1954 and moved with him to Massachusetts while he served in the United States Army.
They moved to Woodstown in 1957 and lived there until 2016 when they moved to Bridgewater, NJ to be closer to family. She enjoyed crocheting and was an accomplished seamstress. Nell had a special talent for refinishing furniture, sometimes bringing home projects in pieces.
Her love of travel continued after marriage and children, including a round-the-world trip with Frank. She is survived by Frank, her husband of 64 years; her sisters, Janet Wright and Wila Waters; by her son Eric, his wife Susanne, and their sons Evan and Layne; and by her son David, his wife Antonia, and their children Laura, Julia, Erica and Andrew. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by her parents and her sister Connie. Services will be held on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at Adams Funeral Home, 64 Broad Street, Woodstown, NJ 08098. There will be a visitation from 10:30 to 11 AM followed by the service at 11 AM.
Interment will follow at the Bethel Cemetery in Hurffville. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Nellie’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association at www. alz.org or to the Salvation Army at www.
