Obituary for Nellie Mae Smith Nellie M. Smith 1943 – 2018 Nellie Mae Smith, 75, of Maryville, Missouri passed away on Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at the Torrance Group Home. Nellie was born on February 13, 1943 in Nodaway County to Fred and Marry (Hutson) Smith and grew up on the family farm. She moved in to the Edwards Group Home in 1984 and to St. Joseph in 1989.

She lived there until returning back to Maryville in 2012 where she lived at the Torrance Group Home. Nellie attended public and state schools and worked for NOCOMO Industries in Maryville prior to moving to St. Joseph. She enjoyed participating in Special Olympics and always had a good sense of humor and loved being around others.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Gerald Smith. Survivors include her brother, Charles (Donna) Smith, Pickering, Missouri; sister, Liz (John) Wilmes, Maryville, Missouri and several half brothers and sisters and nieces and nephews and her Torrance Group Home Family. Services 11am Friday, September 28th at Price Funeral Home, Maryville.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial Smith Cemetery, Rock Port, Missouri. www.
