Nina Edminister , August 01, 1930 — September 13, 2018

Nina Edminister Nina Edminister was born on August 1, 1930 in Akron, Ohio and passed away at home with her loving family on September 13, 2018. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Joseph; children, Michael, Jim (Colleen), Elaine (Kris) Fiocca and John (Alice); grandchildren, Jim Jr. (Stephanie), Andrew, Steve (Erin), Maddie, Erin, George and Jack Edminister, Kristopher, John and Elizabeth Fiocca; great-granddaughter, Kate; sisters, Louise Palombo, Marie Valentini, Cathy (Tony) DeLuca and Linda Wilkinson (deceased); and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Nina was an excellent cook and loved to entertain.

She is well remembered for her many wonderful dinners she shared with her family and friends. Her recipes are treasured by her children and grandchildren who often cooked alongside her. She collected many recipes and cookbooks.

If a cookbook had “one” good recipe it was worth the price. She also cooked with her husband, Joe. Nina and Joe would research and test many recipes and create their own dishes while consulting several cookbooks at the same time.

Nina should have had her own cooking show. Nina is best remembered for her love of her family. She adored her husband, children, grandchildren and great-granddaughter.

She enjoyed spending time with them and hearing about their lives throughout the years. Nina also had a special way with people. She loved traveling and meeting people.

She made friends wherever she went. It is very evident that Nina possessed a certain “joie de vivre”. Nina volunteered for many years at the International Institute and the University of Akron Faculty Wives Club.

She loved working as a secretary at Cornell University, Ithaca NY in the Masters of Engineering Department. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Hilary Catholic Church in Fairlawn at 10am on Saturday, September 15, 2018. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Burial Park.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund Alliance at OCRFA.org. September is National Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month.
